AREAS OF GIVING

General Operating Fund
It takes MORE than food to run a food bank. The Treasure Coast Food Bank relies on the financial support of people like you to help offset the costs of distribution and transportation as well as help to maintain its facilities, coolers, freezers, and trucks. Over 95% of your contributed dollars are spent on providing food for the hungry on the Treasure Coast.

Designated Funds
Sometimes people want to give to a particular program or support a specific area of the Food Bank’s operations. If you have an interest in doing this, please contact the Development Office, to learn about the options and possibilities to designate your support.

Planned Gifts
The Treasure Coast Food Bank can help you leave a legacy of support to our organization while providing significant tax benefits for your estate. Some of the methods include a bequest in your will, a gift of IRA/retirement plan assets or life insurance proceeds, and charitable trusts and annuities. Please consult your financial/tax advisor to discuss the method that would be best for your situation.

WAYS OF GIVING

TCFB is grateful for your financial support. No gift is too big or small. The Food Bank is a 501(c)3 charitable organization under the Internal Revenue Code and, as such, donations and gifts are fully tax-deductible. Our Federal tax ID# is 65-0123281. Once you have made a gift to the Food Bank, we will provide you with a timely acknowledgement that you can use to substantiate your gift and deduction.

Gifts of Cash
You can make cash contributions in three ways

  1. Check - You can mail a donation by check to:

    Treasure Coast Food Bank
    Attn: Development Office
    3051 Industrial 25th Street
    Ft. Pierce, FL 34946
  2. Credit Card - You can call the Treasure Coast Food Bank and make a contribution using your credit card. Please call 772-489-5676 and ask for the Fiscal Department
  3. Online / Website - You can make a secure, online donation through PayPal on our website. Your information will be kept secure and safe and will be viewed only by appropriate Food Bank personnel.

Monthly Gifts
Hunger doesn’t just exist at the holidays or the days leading to April 15. It is a 365-day challenge to assure that those in need have food available to them. Some people and organizations are choosing to make a monthly donation to the Treasure Coast Food Bank. The monthly gift can be made through a credit card or through an automatic transfer from a checking account. The Development office can provide details on how you can set up a recurring monthly gift. By helping us once a month, we can help hungry people every day.

Gifts of Stocks & Securities
There are advantages to donating stock, rather than cashing it out and giving the money. If you donate stock, you can claim the full market value of the stock as of the day you gave it as a charitable gift, and you do not have to pay capital gains tax. If you cash it out first, you would be liable for the capital gains tax. If you have stock that you have held for a long time and it has appreciated in value, the capital gains saving by giving it to the Food Bank could be significant. Consult your financial advisor when considering a donation of stocks and other securities.

Matching Gifts Programs
Many companies have matching gifts programs where they will match their employees’ charitable donations. So you can double or even triple your gift through these programs. Please check with your company’s Finance or Human Resources Office to see if there is such a matching gifts program is available to you.

IRA/Retirement Assets
Charitable IRA Rollover legislation, which allows for donors age 70 and ½ or older to make cash gifts totaling up to $100,000 from a traditional or Roth IRA without incurring income tax on the withdrawal is effective for the 2007 tax year. This special distribution must be made by December 31, 2009. Please consult your financial/tax advisor for more information.

Gifts of Property
It is possible for you to give property – real estate or personal (like boats, cars, jewelry, etc.) – to the Treasure Coast Food Bank. Please check with your financial/tax advisor to see if this giving option could benefit you.

Bequest
You can have an impact on feeding the hungry on the Treasure Coast for years to come through a bequest in your will or estate plan to the Treasure Coast Food Bank.
