Our Programs

Delivering programs to the community to meet emergency food needs continues to be the number one priority of Treasure Coast Food Bank. TCFB engages in effective and innovative programs to achieve delivery of food assistance to those in need.

GENERAL FOOD DISTRIBUTION — We recover surplus food from our retail partners in the food industry and redistribute it to our partner organizations.

COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVES — We collect hundreds of thousands of pounds of food each year through community food drives sponsored by individuals, corporations, clubs, schools and associations and distribute it to our partners who provide food assistance.

PRODUCE RECOVERY — We work with local produce distributors and processors to increase the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables available to our partner organizations.

USDA/TEFAP — Our organization is contracted with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to handle distribution commodities of the USDA Temporary Food Assistance Program.

POWER PURCHASE — The Power Purchase program offers our non-profit partners discounted products to supplement items that are in short supply for their pantries.

MOBILE PANTRY — This program brings nutritious food to households living in underserved areas of the community. Each mobile pantry roll out includes meats, breads, fresh fruit and vegetables, and non-perishable foods to people on the Treasure Coast who do not have access to fresh and healthy food due to financial difficulties, lack of transportation, or physical limitations.

KIDS CAFE — Our nationally sponsored partnership program provides nutritious meals and nutrition education to children from low-income families in a safe, secure after school environment.

BACKPACK PROGRAM — This program provides a BackPack of child friendly, nutritious food to children from low-income families for consumption at home, on the weekends and holidays.

SNAP OUTREACH PROGRAM — SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) is the country’s primary nutrition assistance program which helps families lead more financially and nutritionally sustainable lives and reduces the burden on emergency food pantries. This program aims to increase the number of eligible Treasure Coast residents receiving SNAP benefits in our four county service area.

HEALTH & NUTRITION OUTREACH — A collaborative partnership to provide direct food assistance, nutrition education, health management, and outreach programs.

DISASTER RELIEF — The Food Bank plays a vital role in responding to emergencies such as floods, tornadoes and hurricanes throughout the region.

Your generous contribution of food products, funds and volunteer services supports the many programs of the Treasure Coast Food Bank. These programs benefit over 170 feeding and education programs in four counties, including: emergency food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters, after-school programs, senior citizen centers and other social service centers. These partner agencies receive food from the Food Bank and distribute it to those in need through their pantry and on-site meal programs.

Individuals and families who seek assistance from our member agencies come from a variety of backgrounds. These individuals and families may be neighbors, co-workers, friends or even family. Many of them are the working poor. Each month they must pay for transportation, housing and utilities in that order - and then hope that their already-limited resources will cover a month's supply of food for their family. Many of those served by our member agencies have recently lost a job through no fault of their own. Others are dealing with overwhelming healthcare expenses. Even natural disasters can play a part in straining an already over- extended income.

Increased demand for emergency food has prompted the Food Bank to grow programming to meet gaps in food access. As new challenges arise to provide food assistance to those in need, TCFB shall continue to pursue partnerships and community-based, innovative solutions to help help ease hunger on the Treasure Coast.

Our Mission The mission of the Treasure Coast Food Bank is to obtain and distribute food and needed products through partner agencies to help alleviate hunger in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties.
